A solid 24K gold wedding band is 99.9% gold, so its weight sets most of its price. Our bands weigh about 7.7–11.5 g at 4mm, 12.5–17.3 g at 6mm and 16.7–24.7 g at 8mm across sizes 6 to 13, and the 1 oz bands weigh 31.1 g in every size. At today's gold price, the gold in a 6mm size 9 band (14.5 g) is worth about $1,830. 24K is the softest karat: it never tarnishes, but it scratches and dents sooner than 14K or 18K, so a 6mm or wider band is the practical choice for daily wear.
- Weight is the price driver: grams × today's 24K gold price is the floor of what a band costs. Heavier widths and bigger sizes cost more.
- Width matters more than size: going from 4mm to 8mm more than doubles the gold; going from size 6 to 13 adds about 25–50%.
- Same ring, more gold: a 24K band holds about 2.5 times the pure gold of the same band in 14K, because it is denser and almost all gold.
- Durability is honest work: expect small scratches and a softer, satin shine over time. Choose 6mm+, take it off for the gym and heavy work, and polish it when you like.
- Size wide bands up: for 8mm and wider, most people go up a half size. Between two sizes, choose the larger one.

24K Gold Wedding Band Weight by Width and Size
These are the listed weights on our product pages for every 24K band we sell, in grams of solid 24K gold. The 4mm and 6mm bands list the same weights in every style (domed, flat, hammered and donut, within 0.2 g). At 8mm, the domed and hammered bands carry more gold than the flat ones because the profile is fuller.

"8mm flat" covers the 8mm Flat Band and the 8mm Hammered Flat Band. "8mm domed" covers the 8mm Band Ring and the 8mm Hammered Band Ring. Half sizes are listed on each ring's page. Weights are as listed; each ring is weighed before it ships.
How to read it
Width changes the gold far more than size does. A size 9 band goes from 8.7 g at 4mm to 14.5 g at 6mm and 21.9 g at 8mm domed. Moving one width up adds more gold than moving several sizes up. If you want a heavier band, choose it by width first.
The 10mm 1 oz Flat Band and the 13mm 1 oz Flat Band are the exception: each weighs one troy ounce (31.1 g) in every size. We cover them, and how they wear, in our guide to 1 oz gold rings and 24K rings for men.
How Much Does a 24K Gold Wedding Band Cost?
Most of the price is the gold itself. That is why heavier bands cost more and why our prices move with the daily gold price. The table below multiplies each band's weight at size 9 by today's 24K gold price per gram. It updates on its own.
The gold value is the floor of the price, not the price. On top of it sits the work: forming a solid band from pure gold, finishing it by hand, and making it in your size. Each ring's page shows today's price for every size; the numbers in this table follow the same daily gold price.
What changes the price
- Width and profile. 4mm is the lightest; 8mm domed is the heaviest everyday band.
- Ring size. A bigger circle needs more gold, except on the 1 oz bands.
- The gold price. When gold moves, the price of a 24K band moves with it more than any lower karat, because nearly all of it is gold.

24K vs 22K vs 18K vs 14K Wedding Bands
Take our 6mm band in size 9, listed at 14.5 g of 24K. Made to the same size in a lower karat, it would weigh less, because those alloys are lighter, and less of that weight would be gold. These are estimates from typical yellow-gold densities; the exact figure depends on the alloy.
So a 24K band carries about 2.5 times the pure gold of the same band in 14K. That is the case for 24K: the most gold and the richest color, with a value that follows the gold it holds.
Choose 24K if you want pure gold on your hand and accept that it will show wear. Choose 14K or 18K if you work with your hands all day and want the toughest ring. Our 10K vs 14K vs 18K comparison covers the lower karats in detail.
Is 24K Gold Durable Enough for a Wedding Band?
Yes, if you choose the right band and treat it like what it is: pure gold. Here is what to expect.
- It never tarnishes or rusts. Pure gold does not react with air or water, and it is the karat least likely to irritate sensitive skin.
- It shows wear sooner. Over months of daily wear, a mirror-polished band softens to a satin glow with fine scratches. Many people like that look; a jeweler can polish it back to a mirror.
- It can dent. A hard knock against a weight bar, a railing or a tool can leave a mark. Thin bands can bend; that is why ours start at 4mm and run up to 13mm.

How to keep a 24K band looking good
- Choose 6mm or wider if you will wear it every day. A wider, thicker band holds its shape far better.
- Pick hammered if you want wear to disappear. The hand-hammered texture hides everyday marks.
- Take it off for the gym, heavy lifting, yard work and contact sports.
- Store it on its own, so harder jewelry can't scratch it.
- Clean it simply: warm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft cloth. Our gold cleaning guide has the details.

Choosing a Width for a 24K Wedding Band
Many couples choose a matching pair in two widths, for example a 4mm and an 8mm in the same finish. Every width from 4mm to 10mm comes in a polished or hand-hammered finish, so a pair can match in texture even when the widths differ. Sizing and Resizing a 24K Band
Every band comes in US sizes 6 to 13, including half sizes. Wide bands fit tighter, so for 8mm and wider most people go up a half size. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one. Not sure of your size? Use our printable ring sizer, or call us at (321) 521-4651.
Pure gold can be resized. Resizing is a maintenance service, quoted separately, so getting your size right before we make the ring is the easiest path.
Timing for a wedding date
Each band is made to order in your size, usually in about 2 to 3 weeks; the product page shows the time for that ring. Before it ships, we check the gold with an XRF analyzer and weigh the ring. It ships by UPS, fully insured, with signature confirmation. If you have a date, order early and call us to confirm the timing.
Method and Data Source
Weights come from the listed weight of every size of the 14 solid 24K bands on our store, pulled from our product data on November 3, 2026. Gold values use the live 24K price per gram shown at the top of this page, which updates automatically. The karat comparison uses typical yellow-gold densities (24K 19.32, 22K about 17.9, 18K about 15.6 and 14K about 13.1 g/cm³) and is an estimate. No prices are fixed in this article.

24K Gold Wedding Band FAQ
Is 24K gold good for a wedding band?
Yes, for people who want pure gold and the richest color. Choose a band 6mm or wider for daily wear and take it off for heavy work. If you want the hardest-wearing ring, 14K or 18K resists scratches better.
How much does a 24K gold wedding band weigh?
Our bands weigh about 7.7–11.5 g at 4mm, 12.5–17.3 g at 6mm and 16.7–24.7 g at 8mm, from size 6 to 13. The 1 oz bands weigh 31.1 g in every size.
How much is a 24K gold wedding band worth?
Start with the gold: its weight in grams times today's 24K gold price. For a 6mm size 9 band (14.5 g), that is about $1,830 today. The price adds the work to make and finish the ring.
Will a 24K wedding band bend?
A thin 24K band can bend, which is why ours start at 4mm. A 6mm or wider band holds its shape well in normal wear, but a hard knock can dent it.
Does a 24K gold ring scratch easily?
Yes, sooner than 14K or 18K. It softens to a satin glow over time, and a jeweler can polish it back to a mirror finish. A hammered finish hides marks.
What width should a men's 24K wedding band be?
Most men choose 6mm or 8mm for an everyday band. 8mm and wider fit tighter, so go up a half size.
Can a 24K gold wedding band be resized?
Yes. Pure gold can be sized up or down. Resizing is a maintenance service we quote separately, so measure carefully before ordering.
Can I get a matching 24K wedding band set?
Yes. Choose two widths in the same finish, for example a 4mm and an 8mm, both polished or both hand-hammered.
How do I know my band is real 24K gold?
We check the gold with an XRF analyzer before each ring ships. A jeweler can also test it for you: 24K reads about 99.9% gold.
